Design story

Naturia, designed as a housing complex at the edge of Kemerburgaz settlement and the forest beside it, receives essential motivation from its relation to topography.

The project, which qualifies as a slope settlement, is composed of terraced houses placed on the sets reconstructed upon conditioning the current slope of the land. The relations between the indoor, outdoor, and semi-open spaces of the homes bring along a series of measures to maintain the privacy of the private areas and the efforts for benefitting from the daylight at a reasonable level. Consequently, terraces between different elevations, arrangements concerning the solids-voids relationships on the facades of the houses facing each other also define the formation of the structures.

The elevation differences between the gardens and semi- private spaces of the housing complex composed of the different types and sizes of duplexes and a limited number of simplex apartments are arranged as sections convenient for the landscaping on the roofs of the underground facilities and car parks which provide direct access to all the houses.
